Dr. Rosemary (Rosie) Perez is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education at Iowa State University. Dr. Perez joined the faculty of the Higher Education and Student Affairs programs at Iowa State after earning her doctorate from the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education from the University of Michigan in 2014. She holds a M.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from The University of Vermont and a B.S. in Biological Sciences with an additional major in Psychology from Carnegie Mellon University.
Prior to pursing her doctoral work, Dr. Perez was a student affairs practitioner and her experiences in the field have strongly shaped her research agenda. Specifically, she leverages the strengths of student development and organizational theories to explore individual and organizational learning and development in collegiate contexts. To explore her areas of interest, Dr. Perez primarily employs qualitative methods and she has cultivated expertise in longitudinal qualitative research through work with the Wabash National Study of Liberal Arts Education and her ongoing study following career trajectories of individuals trained in student affairs preparation programs. Her work has been published in venues such as Equity & Excellence in Education, Journal of Diversity in Higher Education, and the Journal of College Student Development.
