Mission: Admission helps students learn about the complex process of applying for college.

The National Association for College Admission Counseling recently published a story about Mission: Admission titled, “Knowledge Center: Facebook College Admission Game Goes Live.”

College counseling is a team effort. Without the participation of students and parents, the game is over before it ever begins. That is why Leslie Aaronson, a lead teacher at the Foshay Learning Center (CA), is so excited about her students’ newfound ability to “keep their calendar and continue to track deadlines.” According to Aaronson, the sea change is no accident. She credits the shift to a new free Facebook application called Mission: Admission.

Mission: Admission, released in October, is a brainchild of the Pullias Center for Higher Education and the Game Innovation Lab at the University of Southern California (USC). The game exists in two forms: a card game called Application Crunch and the Facebook app. Zoe Corwin, project director for both games, said the concept has been received well among students and counselors so far.
